| April in France |
Annette
has been accepted for a month-long residency in April at the Centre
d'Art Contemporain (Cat'Art). The Centre
is located in the
tiny remote village of Sainte Colombe sur l'Hers in SouthWest France
near the ancient walled city of
Carcassone and within easy day travel to Toulouse,
Perpignan on the Mediterranean, the Canal du Midi, the cave paintings
of Niaux and the Gorges of the Tarn.
Cat'Art offers
housing and studio space
for up to fourteen artists,
writers, musicians & sculptors.
Annette will be joined by 5 other
artists from around the U.S., including her friends Karen and Robin
who were
also
on the NYC/Gates trip last year. |
She
is hoping for
some interesting changes in her painting process to take place
while there.
To prepare for the trip, she
is working
on small canvases
using notes,
sketches (like this one of a Roman Bridge)
&
photographs from her other French trips. |

|
|
|
galleries.
She is pleased to be
represented by Liz Charles Gallery
in
Tuscaloosa,
AL and West End Art Gallery
in
|
|
Winston-Salem,

Delivery of new work to
the galleries coincided with an overnight stay
in Birmingham
|

long-time friend, |
|
| Karen Jacobs,
and the
opening
reception in Winston-Salem
for Texas friend, Cheryl McClure. |

On October 22, 2005, Annette was named to
the Wall of Outstanding Alumni at LaGrange College
by Dr. Stuart Gulley,
LC President. |
| (see
his remarks
here) Members of
her family
were
guests of the college and
filled two tables marked with photos of
Annette during her college years in the early '60s. An unexpected
visit with retired religion professor, Dr. Charles McCook, added to
the memories of the weekend. |

LaGrange
is the oldest private school in Georgia which was begun 175
years ago. It is recognized by U.S.News
and World Report
as a top ten school and a top ten value, and, |
| this
year, adds football to its winning sports program. |

The
Return of the BioGem
If you are one of Annette's
fans who has
missed the artists' bios which she had been writing and emailing,
you'll be happy to know that they are back. Some time each
Wednesday, you can find a new BioGem, with last week's and a previous
year's,
at Sharing Celebrations.
There is even a link to let us know
you'd like an email reminder of these quirky
personalities, jewels of art history and ways to celebrate.

Annette
was Artist
of the Month
for June on the website of Chicago artist, David
R. Becker.
He had this to say about Annette's work: |
|
|
"I went to see [your
new painting] and it knocked me out, along with all the other wonderful
works on your site and the site itself."
|
|
|
|
|
----------
"I was going through
your site
again this morning with my cup of coffee reading your biogem and then I
wandered through your painting pages and . . . I realized the reason I
liked them so much was because of the great design."
David is a fine watercolorist, great teacher and author of
two North Light books, How
to Sketch
with
Watercolor and Watercolor
Composition Made Easy. Don't miss his workshop, if you
have a
chance to take it. |

Passion
Week Collage for the Arts
Annette created one new painting and completed another for
this multi-arts event at St. John UM Church. This was the second year
that contemporary art was included in the schedule. |
|
|
|
|
All
of the
artists on
the New York City trip vowed to keep up the walking after the "boot
camp" in
Manhattan.
Walking to deliver paintings is not quite the same as walking to see
paintings, but blocks are blocks. Annette is shown "walking" her
paintings the 6 long blocks to the church.
Her two paintings can be seen here.
Be sure to see the enlarged images
which explain the symbolism. |
